The Mexican driver currently trails teammate Max Verstappen by 277 points, leading to disappointment from Red Bull as they failed to secure the constructors' championship. Helmut Marko has confirmed a shareholder meeting next week to discuss Perez's position.

"I've got a contract for next year and I will be driving for Red Bull next year," Perez stated firmly. "I've seen the rumors, but nothing different to the last couple of ones."

Perez acknowledges the challenging season but emphasizes team unity heading into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. "The season hasn't been the greatest, but there's a reason why they renewed me. They know I can still do it," he explained.

Addressing the unique challenges of being Verstappen's teammate, Perez warned against underestimating the role's demands: "Being teammates with Max at Red Bull for a young driver, I wouldn't like to be in those shoes. People cannot underestimate the level of challenge that there is in this seat."

Key points about Perez's situation:

  • He has a contract with Red Bull for 2025
  • Currently 277 points behind Verstappen
  • Red Bull shareholders meeting scheduled next week
  • Team leadership expresses concerns about performance
  • Perez emphasizes need for team unity
