Starting from the front row alongside teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris faced immediate pressure when Piastri was hit by Max Verstappen at Turn 1. The situation became more tense as Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, starting from the back row, charged through the field to secure a podium finish.

Despite Carlos Sainz keeping within 4.2 seconds during the first stint and the looming threat of both Ferraris, Norris maintained his composure to secure the vital win needed for the championship.

"Today was a very special day for all of us," Norris reflected. "When Oscar got taken out in Turn 1, my heart dropped. But I knew if I kept my head down and stayed focused, I could deliver what we needed."

The victory marks a historic moment for McLaren, ending their 26-year championship drought. Norris emphasized the collective achievement, stating, "This is the biggest reward you can give back to everyone who designs the car, builds the car, gets the partners; everyone has played such a big part."

While celebrating his personal success, Norris expressed disappointment for his teammate Piastri's early exit but praised his contribution throughout the season. The win represents not just a personal triumph for Norris, but a culmination of McLaren's season-long effort to return to the top of Formula 1.
