McLaren CEO Brown: 'Arrogant to Consider Us 2025 F1 Title Favorites'
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown dismisses the notion of McLaren being favorites for the 2025 Formula 1 championships, despite their recent constructors' title victory over Ferrari by 14 points.

"I think favorites would be arrogant," Brown states, acknowledging the intense competition among the top four teams, all of which secured multiple race wins in 2024. While Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed his fourth consecutive drivers' championship, the constructors' battle remained fiercely competitive between McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.
McLaren's performance in 2024 was remarkable, with drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri securing six grand prix victories, 21 podiums, and eight pole positions. The team achieved a remarkable streak of 14 consecutive podiums, their second-longest in history.
Norris finished second in the drivers' championship, becoming McLaren's highest-placed driver since Jenson Button in 2011. Rookie Oscar Piastri impressed with a fourth-place finish, the team's best result since Lewis Hamilton in 2012.
Looking ahead to 2025, Brown maintains realistic optimism: "We're going to try and win the constructors' and drivers' world championship." However, he acknowledges that at least three other teams share the same mindset and have equal chances of success.
