Since joining Formula E in Season 9 (2022-23), Maserati has secured two race wins. The announcement coincides with Maserati's upcoming 100th year in racing, reinforcing their commitment to motorsport heritage while embracing electric mobility.

Santo Ficili, Maserati CEO, emphasized that Formula E serves as both an investment and a technological testing ground. The program aims to:

  • Develop cutting-edge EV technologies
  • Transfer racing innovations to road cars
  • Connect with potential customers of their Folgore electric range
  • Support the automotive industry's transition to electric mobility

Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP Stellantis Motorsport, confirmed that the Maserati powertrain development will continue at Stellantis Motorsport's Versailles facility. Formula E serves as their primary laboratory for improving:

  • Powertrain efficiency
  • Vehicle range
  • High-power battery cell technology
  • Fast charging capabilities

While Maserati's commitment is confirmed, the status of sister brand DS (currently partnered with Penske Autosport) remains undecided. Stellantis plans to field at least four cars in the championship, but brand allocation and team operations for GEN4 are still under consideration.

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds welcomed the announcement, noting the significance of combining the series' future-focused approach with Maserati's rich racing heritage. This partnership represents the fifth of six current manufacturers to confirm their participation in Formula E's next era, with only Mahindra yet to announce their plans.
