Important Information:
- Official diversion routes will be published closer to closure dates
- Significant congestion and delays are expected
- Motorists should plan alternative routes where possible
- Main project completion expected summer 2025
- Final completion date extended to spring 2026
Jonathan Wade, National Highways' senior project manager, acknowledges the disruption but emphasizes the long-term benefits for millions of users. While extreme weather in 2024 caused some delays, the core road improvements remain on schedule, with the extended completion timeline mainly affecting non-essential elements that won't impact most drivers.
