Lola Yamaha Abt Faces Heavy Grid Penalties for Breaking MGU Seals
Both Lola Yamaha Abt Formula E entries have been dealt 20-place grid penalties for the opening race of the Jeddah E-Prix after breaking the seals on their E-Motors (MGU).

The violations occurred on both the No. 11 car of Lucas di Grassi and the No. 22 of Zane Maloney. According to stewards, the team requested permission to break the MGU seals to perform safety checks after experiencing technical issues in previous events. Breaking the seals is considered "changing a part" under current regulations.
With only 22 cars on the Formula E grid, the full 20-place penalties cannot be fully applied. As a result, additional penalties will be enforced:
- A drive-through penalty for positions 1-10 that cannot be served via grid demotion
- A stop-and-go penalty if 11 or more positions cannot be served
The team has struggled this season, with their best result being Maloney's 12th place finish in São Paulo. Both drivers have faced continued setup challenges, with Maloney and di Grassi placing 20th and 21st respectively in Jeddah's first practice session. Earlier, substitute driver Tatiana Calderon finished 10th of 11 drivers in the Rookie Free Practice Session.
