Logan Sargeant Exits Racing, Abandons 2025 ELMS Plans with IDEC Sport
After racing in Formula 1 for Williams Racing across 2023-2024, Logan Sargeant has unexpectedly announced his departure from motorsport, canceling his planned 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign with IDEC Sport.

The 24-year-old American was set to partner with Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert at IDEC Sport, as part of Genesis' preparation for their 2026 LMDh prototype program in the FIA World Endurance Championship. However, IDEC Sport has confirmed Sargeant's withdrawal, citing his decision to "step away from the sport to pursue other interests."
Sargeant made history as only the third American F1 driver this century, completing 36 starts and securing his sole championship point at the 2023 United States Grand Prix before his release in 2024.
His prior sportscar racing experience included successful ELMS appearances in 2021, where he competed in two races for Racing Team Turkey in LMP2. He also achieved two victories in the Le Mans Cup series with Iron Lynx at Paul Ricard and the Road to Le Mans event.
Before this announcement, Sargeant had explored other racing opportunities, including an IndyCar test with Meyer Shank Racing at The Thermal Club in October 2024. He had previously planned to test with AJ Foyt Racing in 2021 but opted instead to join the Williams Racing Academy, leading to his Formula 1 career.
IDEC Sport has announced they will name Sargeant's replacement in the coming days.
