Kyle Busch Opens Up About Challenging 2024 NASCAR Season
Kyle Busch's 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign marked one of his most challenging seasons in professional racing. For the first time since 2005, he finished outside the top 15 in championship standings, placing 20th overall and missing the postseason for the first time since 2012.

The season proved particularly disappointing after his strong 2023 start with Richard Childress Racing, where he secured three early wins. In 2024, despite several near-victories, including a razor-thin second place at Atlanta Motor Speedway (losing by 0.004s), second at Daytona, and another runner-up at Darlington Raceway, Busch couldn't secure a win.
Most notably, 2024 ended Busch's impressive 19-year streak of winning at least one race per season (2005-2023), a record that surpassed Richard Petty's 18-year run. Joey Logano currently holds the closest active streak at 13 consecutive seasons.
The two-time series champion described the season as "character building" and "certainly frustrating," acknowledging the team had opportunities but couldn't capitalize on them. Despite the setback, Busch recognized the difficulty of maintaining such a long winning streak, noting, "it's hard to put that many good years together in a row."
The season's struggles included a pivotal moment at Kansas Speedway, where Busch lost the race lead with just 32 laps remaining, exemplifying the near-misses that characterized his 2024 campaign.
