Katherine Legge Eyes NASCAR Progression After Daytona ARCA Debut
Katherine Legge aims to expand her NASCAR presence, starting with her ARCA Menards Series debut at Daytona International Speedway on February 15 with Sigma Performance Services (SPS). While she has five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts under her belt, this marks her first oval experience at Daytona.

A versatile motorsports veteran, Legge has achieved significant milestones, including becoming the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America (2005 Toyota Atlantic at Long Beach) and setting the record as the fastest woman qualifier in Indianapolis 500 history in 2023.
Her recent Daytona test proved successful, placing among the top 15 fastest teams out of 70 participants. Andy Lally, an experienced NASCAR driver, assisted with her preparation, including guidance during her seat fitting.
Legge's NASCAR aspirations include:
- Competing in the Daytona 500
- Running the Coca-Cola 600
- Expanding her presence in NASCAR events
- Continuing participation in IndyCar and sports cars
Currently, Legge is qualified for road courses and short ovals in lower-power cars according to NASCAR's licensing system. She acknowledges the need to prove herself gradually, similar to other open-wheel drivers like Danica Patrick and AJ Allmendinger who transitioned to NASCAR.
The upcoming ARCA race at Daytona represents a crucial opportunity for Legge to demonstrate her capabilities and potentially unlock more NASCAR opportunities. Despite her nervousness, she remains enthusiastic about adding stock car racing to her diverse racing portfolio.
"I love driving stock cars," Legge stated, emphasizing her commitment to earning her way through NASCAR's ranks and becoming a more well-rounded driver in the process.
