JTG Daugherty Racing Transforms into Hyak Motorsports for 2025 NASCAR Season
NASCAR Cup Series team JTG Daugherty Racing has rebranded as Hyak Motorsports under the leadership of principal owner Gordon Smith, who took control at the end of 2023. The team, which fields the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., continues with co-owners Brad Daugherty, Mark Hughes, and Ernie Cope.

The name "Hyak," meaning "fast" in Chinook Jargon (a Pacific Northwest trade language), reflects the team's commitment to speed and performance. The ownership group plans to introduce additional resources and updated strategies to enhance the program's competitiveness.
"Becoming the owner of Hyak Motorsports brings an exciting opportunity," said Smith. "I look forward to building on the team's accomplishments and driving toward new successes in partnership with our fans, sponsors, and team members."
The team has demonstrated its competitive potential with victories in each of the last two years, including Stenhouse's memorable win at the 2023 Daytona 500. Core operations will remain unchanged, with the rebranding representing the next step in the team's evolution.
Stenhouse expressed optimism about the change: "I'm looking forward to continuing building this team up with a lot of the same great crew members. We learned a lot in 2024 and are ready to get back to the track and recapture our 2023 performance level."
As the team enters its third season under current management, Brad Daugherty emphasized their ultimate goal: "Our goal is to compete and win races at the highest level of NASCAR. The name change signifies that commitment and desire to be our very best."
