NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson secured a third-place finish in the Daytona 500, leading a successful day for Legacy Motor Club as both team owner and driver.

The No. 84 Toyota driver, who returned to NASCAR competition in 2023, achieved his best finish since his comeback. Legacy Motor Club demonstrated impressive performance with two cars finishing in the top five, as John Hunter Nemechek crossed the line in fifth position.

"This feels incredible," Johnson expressed, noting the unique emotions he experienced as both driver and owner. "I've never been in this position as an owner, and it's opened up a different set of emotions. The pride I have in this result and in this company, and all that we're trying to achieve – I am so satisfied."

The success comes shortly after Johnson became majority owner of Legacy Motor Club last month. The organization, now in its second season under Toyota, showed promising signs throughout Speedweeks. Erik Jones nearly won his Thursday night qualifying duel race and finished 12th in the main event.

Nemechek reflected on the chaotic green-white-checkered finish: "Strong run by Legacy Motor Club. Erik in the Duels and then up front for the majority of the day. Then, Jimmie came home third and myself fifth, so a solid day. We already know that we're better than last year, it's just how much better is unknown."

The result marks a significant milestone for Legacy Motor Club as they work to establish themselves as consistent contenders in NASCAR's top division.
