The L2-level penalty stems from illegal modifications to the car's spoiler, violating Sections 14.1C&D&S and Rules 14.5.8.A regarding single-source supplied parts.
Key penalties include:
- Crew chief James Small suspended for four points-paying Cup Series events (through March 16 Las Vegas race)
- 100 points deducted from both team and driver Chase Briscoe
- 10 playoff points deducted
- $100,000 fine
Briscoe had initially finished fourth in the Daytona 500 before the violation was discovered.
Additional penalties were issued to Front Row Motorsport's No. 34 (Todd Gilliliand) and Rick Ware Racing's No. 51 (Cody Ware), with both teams losing 10 team and driver points for unsecured ballast violations during qualifying.
