Joe Gibbs Racing has successfully appealed the penalty issued to Chase Briscoe's No. 19 team following their Daytona 500 inspection, where concerns were raised about modifications to a single-source supplied part (the spoiler).

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel, consisting of Dixon Johnston, Hunter Nickell, and Cathy Rice, determined that the spoiler base holes' elongation resulted from normal attachment to the rear deck rather than intentional modification.

The original penalties included:

  • 100 points deduction
  • 10 playoff points deduction
  • $100,000 fine
  • Four-race suspension for crew chief James Small

All penalties have been rescinded. As a result, Briscoe will move from 46th place (with negative 28 championship points) to 14th place in the championship standings with 72 points.

Briscoe, who won the Daytona pole position, celebrated the decision on social media, thanking NASCAR for the opportunity to present their evidence and acknowledging the Joe Gibbs Racing team's efforts in preparing the appeal.
