Jagger Jones, son of IndyCar and IMSA champion PJ Jones and grandson of Parnelli Jones, dominated the 2023 IMSA VP Racing Challenge series with eight wins from 10 races and seven pole positions. Despite joining the FastMD Racing with Remstar team after the season opener, Jones secured second place in the championship standings.

The 22-year-old racer, who piloted the No. 87 Duqueine D08 LMP3, is now seeking opportunities in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. His diverse racing background, including open-wheel, stock cars, and off-road competition, helped him adapt quickly to prototype racing.

Jones received a last-minute call from FastMD team just two weeks before the second VP Challenge weekend in March. After winning both races at St. Petersburg and Mid-Ohio, he was invited to complete the full season, ultimately helping the team secure the Teams' championship.

His success in managing race pace, traffic navigation, and strategic driving proved crucial throughout the season. "I learned how to win a race by three seconds instead of by 20 seconds, and that you don't have to take the risk when it's not needed," Jones explained.

Looking ahead, Jones believes the LMP2 category would be an ideal next step in his career. His experience in traffic management and race control, combined with his natural adaptation to prototype racing, positions him well for advancement in IMSA's premier series.
