Thirty high school students from Port Orange's Spruce Creek and Atlantic High Schools participated in the program's launch, receiving exclusive paddock tours and engaging with key industry professionals. The students visited various technical facilities, including:
- Michelin's tire compound
- IMSA Engineering Center
- IMSA Tech Inspection Area
- IMSA Technology Lab
- Action Express Racing's GTP garage
Students interacted with industry leaders including:
- Jim Fowler (IMSA supervising official)
- Chris Mitchum (Action Express operations director)
- Aaron Pfeifer (Cadillac LMDh tech lead)
- John Doonan (IMSA President)
The program, developed in partnership with EVERFI and supported by Gainbridge and Konica Minolta, provides practical applications of STEM subjects in motorsport. EVERFI's involvement ensures continued learning through their interactive, game-based platform that reaches over 60,000 teachers nationwide.
"This is a laboratory for automakers, Michelin, and all teams. Students can see classroom concepts applied in a real-world environment," stated John Doonan, IMSA President.
The initiative will continue throughout 2025, with similar experiences planned at five additional race events, supported by a dedicated web portal for ongoing student and educator engagement.
