IMSA Could Allow Unmuffled V12 in Aston Martin Valkyrie GTP
Racing fans may soon experience a louder, more intense Aston Martin Valkyrie GTP, following discussions between IMSA officials and The Heart of Racing team at Daytona International Speedway.

The potential modification involves removing the mandatory European-spec mufflers from the V12-powered Hypercar, allowing its engine to produce its natural, unmuffled sound. This change was suggested during a conversation between an IMSA official and team principal Ian James at November's testing session.
Recent observations at Sebring testing suggest the team is pursuing this modification. While James didn't explicitly confirm the removal of mufflers for the GTP configuration, he hinted at positive news for fans, stating "I think our fans will be pleased."
The unmuffled Cosworth-built V12 engine could make its debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in 2025, pending formal approval through IMSA's technical regulations process. This modification would mark a significant change in the auditory experience for WeatherTech SportsCar Championship spectators.
