
Idris Elba Joins Formula E Team Cupra Kiro as New Co-Owner
Cupra Kiro, a Formula E team, has welcomed acclaimed British actor Idris Elba as part of its expanded ownership group, alongside several high-profile investors.

The team, which entered Formula E this season after acquiring the former ERT outfit, is backed by The Forest Road Company and received additional support from Spanish car brand Cupra before the season began.
"Formula E is at the perfect intersection by blending sport and global entertainment with sustainability," said Elba. "I'm proud to be joining the grid with Cupra Kiro at this pivotal moment."
The team has already shown promise, securing an eighth-place finish with driver Dan Ticktum at the Sao Paulo E-Prix using customer Porsche powertrains.
Notable new investors include:
- Tony Ressler (Atlanta Hawks principal owner)
- Larry Berg and Shaun Neff (Los Angeles FC co-owners)
- Steve Bornstein (former ESPN CEO)
- Rick Hess (Evolution Media co-founder)
- Navid Mahmoodzagedan (Moelis & Company co-founder)
Strategic advisors Jeffrey Assaf, Caleb Kramer, and Michael Woronoff have also joined the team.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds emphasized that these investments will benefit both the team and the championship as a whole, highlighting the strategic growth potential for the electric racing series.
The team's managing director, Jeremy Tarica, stated that this expansion marks the next step in Kiro's journey to establish itself as a leading force in motorsport and beyond.
