Hauger Breaks Track Record to Take St. Pete Pole in Indy NXT Debut

Dennis Hauger dominated his Indy NXT debut by securing pole position for the season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with a record-breaking lap time of 1m3.8801s in the No. 28 Rental Group car for Andretti Global.

The Norwegian driver, who previously won the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2021 and collected five wins in Formula 2, shattered the existing track record of 1m04.5759s set by Nolan Siegel. Hauger's impressive performance included leading Friday's practice and placing second in Saturday morning's pre-qualifying session.

Andretti Global secured a front-row lockout with 2024 USF Pro 2000 champion Lochie Hughes qualifying second at 1m04.0209s in the No. 26 McGinley Clinic/USF Pro Championship car. Caio Collet qualified third at 1m04.3851s in the No. 76 HMD Motorsports car, while Myles Rowe secured fourth position with a time of 1m04.2053s.

The 45-lap race is scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m. ET, with live coverage available on FS1, the FOX Sports app, and the IndyCar Radio Network.
