
Gil de Ferran and Tim Lombardi Join Team Penske Hall of Fame Class of 2024
Gil de Ferran and Tim Lombardi were inducted into the Team Penske Hall of Fame during the organization's annual holiday celebration on December 19th, marking the ninth class of inductees since the program's inception in 2016.
De Ferran, who passed away in 2023 at age 56, left an indelible mark on Team Penske's racing legacy. His achievements include:
- Two CART Series championships (2000, 2001)
- 2003 Indianapolis 500 victory
- Nine wins and 14 pole positions with Team Penske
- Set closed-course speed record of 241.428 mph at Auto Club Speedway (2000)

Tim Lombardi's 41-year career with Team Penske began in 1976 when he joined as a transportation driver for the IROC series. He later became team coordinator for the INDYCAR operation, managing crucial aspects including team logistics, uniforms, marketing, and transportation until his retirement in 2017.

Angela de Ferran accepted the award on behalf of her late husband, noting that his years at Team Penske were his most successful and happiest. The induction ceremony took place at Team Penske's Mooresville, N.C. headquarters, where custom Hall of Fame awards, requiring nearly 100 hours of machining work, were presented to the honorees.
These inductees join an prestigious list of Team Penske Hall of Fame members, including Roger Penske, Mark Donohue, Rick Mears, and other notable figures who have contributed to the team's storied racing history since its founding. Team members vote annually to select inductees who have made significant impacts on the organization's success.
