Genesis has launched its LMDh program with a clear long-term commitment to endurance racing, unveiling the GMR-001 prototype for both WEC and IMSA competition at a prestigious event in Dubai.

Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul confirmed Genesis' commitment through 2029, emphasizing the brand's intention to build a lasting presence in motorsport. The program involves establishing a race team at Paul Ricard and relocating facilities to Frankfurt, demonstrating significant infrastructure investment.

  • Chosen LMDh platform over LMH for practicality and expertise from ORECA
  • Using a twin-turbo V8 engine based on Hyundai's WRC unit
  • Staggered entry: WEC in 2026, IMSA in 2027
  • Partnership with IDEC Sport for European Le Mans Series preparation

The project, approved on September 1, 2023, gives the team 16 months to prepare for the 2026 WEC season opener. Genesis chose endurance racing over Formula 1 and Formula E for its technological relevance and design inspiration potential.
