General Motors Teams Up with EVgo to Add 2,700 Fast Chargers Nationwide
General Motors and EVgo have joined forces to accelerate electric vehicle adoption across the United States through a significant expansion of charging infrastructure. The partnership aims to add more than 2,700 new fast charging stations nationwide over a five-year period.
This expansion will triple EVgo's existing network, which currently operates 800 fast charging locations across 66 markets in 34 states, serving over 200,000 customers. The new stations will be strategically placed in both urban and suburban areas, focusing on high-traffic locations and areas with multi-family housing.
The partnership addresses a critical barrier to EV adoption - charging accessibility - while supporting GM's commitment to an all-electric future. EVgo's fast charging stations can deliver up to 80% charge in 30 minutes, making electric vehicle charging more convenient for everyday drivers.
Both companies emphasize that this collaboration will play a crucial role in making electric vehicles more practical for a broader range of consumers, particularly those who may not have access to home charging solutions.
The initiative represents one of the most substantial investments in public EV charging infrastructure in U.S. history, demonstrating both companies' commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation.
