The innovative charging system delivers a 10% energy boost in just 30 seconds through 600kW fast charging. Each portable unit can provide two battery boosts per race, operating independently from local power grids thanks to onboard energy storage.
The system is enhanced by Fortescue Zero's Elysia battery intelligence software, which optimizes both speed and battery longevity. While the technology differs from current road car charging solutions, it's already finding applications in heavy industry, including a 6MW solution for mining equipment.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds emphasized that this technology not only enhances race excitement but also advances real-world EV development. Fortescue Zero CEO Ellie Coates added that the ultra-fast boost technology demonstrates the expanding possibilities for battery technology and infrastructure.
Following its successful debut in Jeddah, Pit Boost will be featured in one race at each remaining double-header weekend in Monaco, Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin, and London.
