
Ford Drivers Top List with £6.5m in Unpaid Parking Fines
Ford owners ranked highest in UK parking fines during 2024, accumulating £6.5M in unpaid penalties, according to National Scrap Car data.

Local councils issued 2,616,236 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) in 2024, with the top offenders being:
- Ford: 319,887 fines (£6,453,280 outstanding)
- Volkswagen: 234,811 fines
- BMW: 204,971 fines
Manchester issued the highest number of PCNs to these brands, with 464,880 total notices. However, London boroughs recorded the most unpaid fines:
- Waltham Forest: Most unpaid Ford PCNs (80,666)
- Barking and Dagenham: Highest unpaid fines for Volkswagen (53,930) and BMW (53,875)
The high number of Ford violations correlates with the brand's popularity, as the Ford Puma was the UK's bestselling car in 2024.
To avoid parking fines:
- Check for parking restriction signs
- Park within marked bays
- Pay attention to time limits
- Ensure parking permits are clearly displayed
The combined unpaid fines for the top three manufacturers totaled £15,077,680 in 2024.
