FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem responded firmly to Formula 1 drivers' inquiries about internal FIA matters, stating they should focus on racing instead of the governing body's affairs.

The controversy emerged after drivers, through the Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA), sought transparency about the allocation of monetary fines for three years. The situation intensified following recent departures of senior officials Tim Mayer and Janette Tan.

George Russell expressed concern about the FIA's internal changes, stating, "We'd love to get a little bit of clarity and understanding of what's going on and who's getting fired next."

Ben Sulayem's response to Reuters was unequivocal: "Do we tell them how to drive? Do we tell them what to have as their strategy? It's none of their business... Let them go and concentrate on what they do best, which is race."

The situation has gained additional scrutiny following a Times report alleging that two audit committee members were removed after questioning Ben Sulayem's proposal to redirect his $1.5 million FIA entitlement to a "President's development fund" for member clubs. Committee chairman Bertrand Badré and member Tom Purves were reportedly dismissed after raising concerns about this plan, which would benefit clubs voting in next year's re-election.
