Ferrari's Vasseur Reflects on 14-Point Gap That Cost Constructors' Championship
Ferrari narrowly missed securing the constructors' championship by just 14 points to McLaren, with team principal Fred Vasseur reflecting on key moments throughout the season that could have changed the outcome.

Despite the disappointment, Vasseur highlighted significant improvements across all areas compared to the previous year, including pit stops, strategy, reliability, and overall performance. The close margin - which could have been overcome if Carlos Sainz had beaten Lando Norris in Abu Dhabi - makes the loss particularly frustrating for the team.
During the decisive Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari maintained their planned strategy rather than risking an alternative approach. Vasseur explained this decision, stating that focusing on their own optimal performance was more important than making reactive changes based on their battle with McLaren.
The team principal acknowledged that while the season showed massive progress for Ferrari, the narrow defeat shouldn't overshadow the substantial steps forward made throughout the year. Looking ahead, Vasseur emphasized the need to build on these improvements for the next season, while recognizing that both teams faced their share of challenges throughout the championship battle.
Note: This outcome marks McLaren's first constructors' title since 1998, with Norris's victory in Abu Dhabi securing the championship while Ferrari drivers Sainz and Leclerc finished second and third respectively.
