The Chinese driver, who was previously part of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2015-18, will share reserve duties with Antonio Giovinazzi, who continues to compete in the World Endurance Championship with the Ferrari 499P program.
Zhou's F1 career includes 68 grand prix starts with 16 points scored, his final points finish being an eighth place at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix - the only points scored by Stake that season.
This move is part of a broader shift among former F1 drivers, with Valtteri Bottas returning to Mercedes as a reserve driver. Among the five drivers who lost their race seats after 2024 (Zhou, Bottas, Franco Colapinto, Kevin Magnussen, and Sergio Perez), three have secured reserve roles, with Colapinto joining Alpine.
Magnussen is expected to take a reserve position at Haas while balancing commitments with BMW in IMSA and WEC. Perez has yet to announce his future plans, opting to take time before making any decisions.
