EVgo Partners with GM to Triple Fast Charging Network Across United States
EVgo and General Motors (GM) are partnering to triple the size of EVgo's fast charging network across the United States, making electric vehicle (EV) adoption more accessible and convenient for drivers nationwide.
This expansion comes as automakers, including GM, invest heavily in electric vehicles. GM plans to launch at least 20 new EV models by 2023 across all four of their brands, joining the existing Chevrolet Bolt EV.
Currently, 115 million Americans live within a 15-minute drive of an EVgo charger. The expanded network will significantly increase this coverage, adding stations in:
- Existing markets with high demand
- New markets across the country
- High-traffic locations like grocery stores and retail outlets
- Entertainment centers
- Apartment buildings
- City centers and parks

This partnership addresses several key market needs:
- Supporting drivers without home charging access
- Providing fast charging for rideshare drivers
- Meeting increased demand from new EV owners
- Expanding accessibility for apartment dwellers and urban residents
Both companies demonstrate strong commitment to sustainability:
- GM aims for an all-electric, zero-emissions future
- U.S. plants will run on renewable energy by 2030
- Global plants will use renewable energy by 2040
- EVgo already powers its chargers with 100% renewable energy since 2019
The partnership builds upon EVgo's experience serving 200,000 customers and aims to support millions of future EV drivers as the market continues to grow. This expansion ensures that public fast charging becomes as convenient and reliable as traditional gas stations, making EVs a practical choice for all drivers.
