
Dirt Track Champions: Thornton Jr., Davenport, Overton Rule DIRTcar Nationals Wednesday
Ricky Thornton Jr., Jonathan Davenport, and Brandon Overton claimed victories in Wednesday night's triple-header DIRTcar Late Model Features at Volusia Speedway Park's DIRTcar Nationals in Barberville, FL. These wins strengthen their positions in the race for the Big Gator championship.

Thornton Jr. dominated the first feature from the pole position, maintaining a commanding lead throughout the 20-lap race. He finished 1.4 seconds ahead of Cade Dillard, with Max Blair securing third place. This victory extended Thornton's points lead in the Big Gator championship hunt.

In the second feature, Jonathan Davenport secured his first DIRTcar Nationals victory since 2018. After trailing early leader Ethan Dotson, Davenport capitalized on lap traffic to take the lead with seven laps remaining. Despite a late caution, he held off Devin Moran and Mike Marlar for the win.

Brandon Overton captured the third feature win of the night, leading wire-to-wire from the pole position. Despite two cautions that bunched up the field, Overton maintained control throughout the race, finishing ahead of his brother Cody Overton and Garrett Alberson.
The DIRTcar Nationals continues with three more nights of World of Outlaws Late Models competition from Thursday through Saturday. Current standings have Thornton leading by 20 points over Davenport and 40 points over Overton in the Big Gator championship chase.
