Defending champion William Byron leads the field, having taken the top spot on lap 8. The running order behind him shows Austin Cindric in second, followed by Ty Dillon, polesitter Chase Briscoe, and Joey Logano rounding out the top five.

The race began shortly after 2 PM ET with Briscoe and Cindric on the front row. Briscoe led the opening eight laps before Ty Dillon, making his debut with Kaulig Racing, briefly took command for three laps. Byron then moved to the front just before the rain arrived.

NASCAR officials called for the caution as the field entered the tri-oval to begin lap 10, with three-wide racing in progress. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected to impact the area for several hours.

Notable positions include Helio Castroneves in 35th place, while Carson Hocevar runs last after losing the draft in the opening laps.

The Daytona 500 is scheduled for 200 laps around the 2.5-mile speedway, with the race becoming official at the halfway point (lap 100).
