
Cory Hedgecock Dominates Season Opener at I-75 Raceway SAS Event
Cory Hedgecock delivered a commanding performance to secure victory in the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series season opener at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The Loudon native dominated the 40-lap event from pole position, claiming his fourth career series win and a $5,000 prize.

Despite multiple cautions and two red flag situations, Hedgecock maintained control throughout the race, finishing 1.767 seconds ahead of Billy Franklin. Kendall Franklin completed the podium in third, improving ten positions from his starting spot. These three drivers were the only competitors to complete all forty laps in the caution-plagued event.
"The car felt really good," Hedgecock commented after securing his first win of 2025. "I wasn't trying to run too hard, I thought we were okay out front. It was the right tire choice and they really didn't even wear at all."
The race drew 22 competitors, with Hedgecock setting the pace in qualifying with a fast lap of 13.849 seconds. The event was marked by seven yellow flags and two red flag situations, highlighting the challenging nature of the Winter Championships opener.
