The Thomson, GA driver currently leads reigning champion Brandon Sheppard and rookie Ethan Dotson by four points, following an impressive showing at the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals. Overton secured his first-career podium finish on Friday, charging from 23rd to 3rd place, and followed up with an 11th-place finish on Saturday.
This early success represents notable progress from his 2024 rookie season, which included eight top-10 finishes and third place in the MD3 Rookie of the Year standings. Overton's improved performance can be attributed to his growing experience, as he now has data from 24 of the 32 tracks on this year's schedule, compared to last season's learning curve.
"I feel way more confident," Overton said about his 2025 prospects. "It's going to have its ups and it's going to have its downs, I know that. Just got to see how the year goes."
The series continues at Volusia Speedway Park for the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals from February 13-15, where Overton aims to maintain his momentum and pursue his first World of Outlaws victory.
