Casey Mears Returns to NASCAR Cup Series After 6-Year Break for Martinsville Race
Casey Mears will make his NASCAR Cup Series comeback after a six-year hiatus, joining Garage 66 for the March 30 race at Martinsville Speedway. The 47-year-old veteran will pilot the No. 66 Ford Mustang, sponsored by HitchGO, a mobile RV repair and service company.

This marks Mears' first Cup Series appearance since the 2019 Daytona 500. With 489 Cup Series starts under his belt, Mears brings extensive experience from his full-time career spanning 2003 to 2016. His most notable achievement was winning the 2007 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway while driving for Hendrick Motorsports.
Throughout his career, Mears has driven for prestigious teams including Chip Ganassi, Hendrick Motorsports, and Richard Childress Racing. He also competed for Red Bull Racing, Tommy Baldwin, and Germain Racing, where he became known for piloting the GEICO-sponsored car from late 2010 through 2016.
Garage 66, an Open team running a partial schedule, will make their second attempt of the season at Martinsville after failing to qualify for the Daytona 500 with Chandler Smith. Team owner Carl Long expressed pride in adding Mears to their roster, citing his respected reputation and racing pedigree.
"I'm happy to be back in a race car and look forward to returning to Martinsville, one of my favorite tracks," Mears said, acknowledging the opportunity to inch closer to 500 NASCAR Cup Series starts with support from HitchGO, Mosby's Towing and Transport, and Coble Enterprises.
