Billy VanInwegen Returns to Chili Bowl for Fifth Run - DTD Exclusive
Billy VanInwegen, the Empire Super Sprint Cole Cup winner, returns to the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK for his fifth time as a competitor. Known for racing 360 Sprint cars, Big Block/Small Block Modifieds, and CRSA 305 Sprints in the Northeast, VanInwegen brings valuable experience to this prestigious Midget racing event.

Race official waves checkered flag
VanInwegen has achieved notable success at the Chili Bowl, reaching the C Main on Saturday night twice - a significant accomplishment considering the event draws over 300 midget drivers competing for the Saturday night finale.
"Walking into the building for the first time was an adrenaline rush," VanInwegen recalls. "I signed in for my pit pass standing between Jac Haudenschild and Danny Laskowski. That set the tone for how special this event is."
Competing in Steve Buckwalter's machine, VanInwegen approaches the race with a measured mindset. "The level of competition and passing points format make it crucial to have a good heat race," he explains. "The limited time to get comfortable in a car we run once a year is challenging, but returning with the same team helps speed up the process."
After a successful practice session on Sunday, VanInwegen feels prepared for Tuesday night's qualifying rounds. Looking ahead to the 2025 season, he plans to drive Joe Barbagallo's #4 Modified at Orange County Fairgrounds and select events, while continuing his Sprint Car racing career with a focus on maximizing wins and enjoying the sport.
