Austin Prock made history at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, securing his first NHRA Funny Car world championship during qualifying with a remarkable track-record run of 3.804 seconds at 334.57mph - the quickest run in Funny Car since 2017 and fourth quickest in class history.

In his debut Funny Car season, Prock has dominated the competition with eight race wins and 15 No. 1 qualifiers - setting a new single-season record. He stepped in for three-time world champion Robert Hight on the John Force Racing Cornwell Tools team, joining his father Jimmy Prock and brother Thomas.

The young driver's impressive season included:

  • Runner-up finish in Gainesville
  • First Funny Car victory in Phoenix
  • Wins in Bristol, Richmond, and Seattle
  • Victory at the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals
  • Playoff wins in Reading and Charlotte
  • 14 consecutive round wins
  • Victory in Las Vegas
  • Second-best reaction time average in class
  • Nearly 80% completion rate of powered runs

Prock, who previously competed in Top Fuel and won Rookie of the Year in 2019, now has the opportunity to become just the sixth driver in NHRA history to win nine or more events in a single season - a feat not accomplished since John Force's 11 wins in 2000.

The championship-clinching weekend continues with eliminations beginning at 11am PT on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, where Prock aims to capture his ninth win of the season.
