The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH makes its highly anticipated debut in the 2025 FIA WEC season, marking the culmination of a five-year journey since the program's initial announcement in 2019. Originally planned for 2020, the project was revived in 2023 by Heart of Racing.

The test program has been comprehensive, covering over 15,000 kilometers across multiple continents, including circuits in Europe, the Middle East, and the USA. Testing locations included Silverstone, Donington Park, Vallelunga, Jerez, Bahrain, Qatar, Road Atlanta, Sebring, and Daytona.

What makes the Valkyrie unique is its non-hybrid LMH specification, based on the road-going model that customers have enjoyed since 2021. The car features a modified Cosworth-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, adjusted to meet the FIA's 500kW (680bhp) power limit while maintaining reliability for endurance racing.

Key technical adaptations include:

  • Revised aerodynamics with passive solutions replacing active aero devices
  • Double wishbone suspension with pushrod actuated torsion bar springs
  • Quick-change bodywork components
  • Single-point rapid refueling system
  • High-speed pneumatic jack system
  • Optimized driver cockpit for safety and accessibility

The driver lineup combines experienced racers with emerging talent:

  • Marco Sorensen
  • Harry Tincknell
  • Alex Riberas
  • Ross Gunn
  • Roman De Angelis
  • Tom Gamble (23-year-old British talent)

According to Aston Martin's endurance racing boss Adam Carter, the team's goal for their inaugural year is to demonstrate competitive performance against the strong field in both WEC and IMSA championships. The program represents a significant step in Aston Martin's racing heritage, emphasizing their commitment to developing talent within their racing family.
