Aston Martin Names Andy Cowell New F1 Team Principal, Krack Moves to Trackside Role
Andy Cowell has been appointed as the new team principal of Aston Martin Formula 1, replacing Mike Krack in a significant leadership restructuring. The change comes as part of the team's effort to streamline operations and establish clearer leadership.

Key changes in the restructuring include:
- Mike Krack moves to Chief Trackside Officer role
- Enrico Cardile joins as Chief Technical Officer
- Tom McCullough transitions to wider group leadership
- Aerodynamics, engineering, and performance departments split between trackside and factory operations
The restructuring follows the team's performance decline in 2024, where they scored only 94 points compared to 280 in 2023. Both years saw strong starts but diminishing results as the seasons progressed.
Cowell, who previously led Mercedes' High Performance Powertrains division, joined Aston Martin as group CEO in October 2024. His appointment aligns with the team's preparations for their 2026 transition to a works team partnership with Honda and Aramco.
The reorganization precedes Adrian Newey's anticipated arrival as managing technical partner later this year, signaling Aston Martin's continued commitment to building a championship-winning team.
These changes build upon earlier technical department modifications, including Dan Fallows' move from technical director to a group role, as the team works to address their in-season development challenges and strengthen their competitive position.
