Electric vehicle drivers can now traverse "America's Loneliest Road" more confidently thanks to EVgo's new charging infrastructure developments. The company is expanding its network through the innovative eXtend program, focusing on strategic partnerships with retailers and travel stops.

EVgo's partnership with General Motors Co. is bringing 2,000 fast-charging stations to Pilot Flying J locations across the United States. This expansion prioritizes both accessibility and profitability, with EVgo targeting a 20% utilization rate for optimal performance and minimal wait times.

The eXtend program represents a shift in EVgo's business model, where partners pay for installation and maintenance while EVgo manages operations. This approach allows for rapid expansion into highway corridors without the traditional utilization risks, as explained by Sara Rafalson, EVgo's senior vice president of market development and public policy.

This development particularly benefits rural and remote routes, ensuring EV drivers have reliable charging options even in less-traveled areas. The initiative marks a significant step toward comprehensive EV infrastructure across America's highways, making electric vehicle travel more practical for long-distance journeys.
