The 22-year-old Joe Gibbs Racing driver has experienced a challenging start to the season, with a 16th place finish at Daytona, a crash at Atlanta, and a 34th place finish at Circuit of The Americas. Despite these setbacks, Gibbs maintains his optimism.
"We haven't had great finishes, but we're going to be really good," says Gibbs. "I want to have the opportunity to go out and show off my skill set and show off my team's hard work."
Recent changes to the No. 54 team include the addition of new crew chief Tyler Allen, whom Gibbs praises for his methodical approach to racing. Looking ahead, Gibbs is excited about upcoming races at Las Vegas, Homestead-Miami, Darlington, and Bristol.
While sometimes viewed as a polarizing figure in NASCAR, Gibbs remains focused on his goals rather than public perception. "I'm here to win," he states. "I feel like I was raised to come into the sport with success, to try to come in and win everything at everything I do."
With seven starts at Phoenix Raceway under his belt, including three in Xfinity Series and four in Cup Series (with a best finish of third), Gibbs believes he's capable of securing his first Cup Series victory. "I think we are very capable of breaking through," he affirms. "We're going to go at it full force."
