Tesla Recalls All 46,000 Cybertrucks Over Flying Body Panel Risk
Tesla has recalled all 46,000 Cybertrucks due to a potentially dangerous defect where body panels could detach while driving. The recall affects vehicles sold in the first 15 months of production.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified that the cant rail, a stainless-steel exterior trim panel running parallel to the windscreen, can delaminate and detach from the vehicle. The issue stems from failing adhesive used to secure the panel.

Multiple instances of panel detachment have been documented, including during normal driving conditions. YouTuber Whistlin' Diesel demonstrated how the panel could be removed with minimal effort, highlighting the severity of the adhesive failure.

This recall follows a previous issue where Cybertrucks were recalled for a problematic accelerator pedal that could become stuck in the down position, which was fixed with a rivet installation.
Tesla is addressing the current issue by:
- Offering free replacement of the cant rail assembly
- Installing new panels that meet durability requirements
- Completing repairs within approximately one hour
While owners can continue driving their vehicles, Tesla recommends monitoring the panels for any signs of loosening. Affected owners should schedule service at their nearest Tesla service center for the free repair.
