
Spring Mountain Race Series Heats Up as Championship Battles Intensify at Midseason
The Spring Mountain Race Series kicked off 2025 with intense competition on the 2.76-mile Charleston Peak North Course, marking the season's midpoint with remarkable performances across multiple classes.
In the Sports Car Series, 17 racers navigated challenging conditions without incidents. Mark Ramsey claimed first place in GTU despite overnight engine repairs, followed by Kha Phan in second and Brian Reynolds maintaining championship P2 with third place. Newcomer Jeff Fraser showed promise with a fourth-place finish.
GT4 class saw Tom McMillan secure his first seasonal victory, with Brian Schmidt's Porsche taking second and Mike Dean setting a new track record for third. In GTL, Karen Wonnenberg maintained second place against Chad Lancaster, while Blake Olsen demonstrated exceptional skill by winning from the back of the grid in race two.
The Radical Cup Challenge produced exciting results across all classes:
Gold Class:
- Brandon Rambo - 1st (won by tiebreaker)
- Mark Rohrwasser - 2nd
- Doug Ramirez - 3rd (maintains 2nd in championship)
Silver Class:
- Jim Mason - 1st (new track record)
- Chris Souliotis - 2nd
- Brian Reynolds - 3rd (leads championship)
Rookie Class:
- Jason Horwitz - 1st (leads championship)
- Bruce Semler - 2nd
