Robby Gordon returns to iconic Black Diamond Ford Trophy-Truck for Parker 400
Off-road racing legend Robby Gordon will return to the driver's seat of his iconic "Black Diamond" Ford Trophy-Truck at the 2025 Parker 400, marking a significant homecoming for both driver and machine.

Black Diamond truck racing through desert
This legendary truck, designed by Gordon in the early 1990s, revolutionized off-road racing with innovative features including single internal bypass shocks per corner, swing set steering, and removable brake rotor hats. Built without modern CAD or waterjet machines, the handcrafted vehicle dominated the 1996 SCORE season with four overall wins and the Trophy-Truck championship.
Currently owned by Mark Post's Riviera Racing, the truck has been upgraded with an 1,100 horsepower Joe Gibbs Racing engine and a Masonmatic sequential gearbox while maintaining its original chassis and suspension design. Post has continued the truck's legacy with multiple victories across SCORE, Best-in-the-Desert, and NORRA competitions.
For the Parker 400, Gordon will qualify and drive the first lap, followed by his son Max for lap two, with Post completing the final stretch. They'll compete against a field of nearly 130 entries, including 14 Trophy-Truck and Class 1 unlimited vehicles.
