Peugeot's 9X8 enters its third full FIA WEC Hypercar season with significant updates, aiming to secure its first win after achieving only two podium finishes since its 2022 debut.

The team has implemented several key changes to enhance performance:

  • Abandoned the original floor-based downforce concept for a traditional aero package
  • Introduced a new hydraulic gear shift activator
  • Updated tire sizes
  • Added new front and rear suspension updates for 2025

Technical director Olivier Jansonnie explains the latest suspension updates: "It's a refinement to get the aero to work better, stabilize the platform, and achieve better aero effects. We've been testing since November, focusing on improving how we use the car's aero map through better stabilization."

The suspension improvements are expected to show greatest benefit at challenging circuits like Imola and COTA, rather than flatter tracks like Qatar. The team has specifically targeted areas where they previously struggled, particularly at tracks like COTA where performance was notably poor.

Winter Testing Strategy:

  • Limited to eight 24-hour testing days annually
  • Completed partial Le Mans validation in December
  • Focus on performance development at WEC tracks
  • Targeting improvement at specific circuits like Imola and Spa

Despite recent leadership changes at Stellantis and Peugeot, the racing program maintains full corporate support. While pressure for results continues to mount, the team remains optimistic about their competitive prospects for the 2025 season, particularly with their latest technical updates.
