Smith, 20, will co-drive with Brady Behrman, who returns for his third season with the team. The Iowa native completed successful testing in the Vantage GT4 at Daytona in December, preparing for his multi-class endurance racing debut.

"These cars are very different than our NASCAR Xfinity cars," Smith noted after testing. "I appreciate Van der Steur Racing and Brady Behrman giving me the opportunity."

For 2025, Smith continues with JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, piloting the No.8 Chevrolet styled after Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s 2000-2007 design.

Behrman, who also tested VDSR's new Vantage GT3, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "I'm beyond excited for the 4-Hour BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona. Sammy's talent and drive will be a huge asset to our team."

Smith follows other NASCAR drivers who have competed in the Michelin Pilot Challenge before the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Previous participants include Bubba Wallace, John Hunter Nemecheck, and Corey Heim in a Toyota GR Supra GT4, while Harrison Burton and Zane Smith claimed victory in 2023 driving a Ford Mustang GT4.
