Mercedes Returns to Le Mans After 26-Year Absence with Iron Lynx GT3 Program
Mercedes-AMG is returning to the FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours in 2025 after a 26-year absence, partnering with Iron Lynx for a two-car LMGT3 program. Iron Lynx, which previously operated Lamborghini's Hypercar and LMGT3 programs, will field two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the series.

"The 2025 season with the FIA WEC entry is the right moment — we are returning to the Sarthe after 26 years," stated Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The partnership with Iron Lynx marks a significant milestone in Mercedes' Customer Racing program.
To compete in WEC, Mercedes-AMG must complete several homologation requirements for the GT3:
- Installation of driveshafts with torque sensors
- Required development work
- Wind tunnel testing for FIA WEC performance compliance
This homologation will also enable other Mercedes-AMG customer teams to compete at Le Mans through invitations earned from various championships, including ELMS LMGT3 class and IMSA's GTD class.
Stefan Wendl, head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing, expressed gratitude to ACO and FIA for their collaboration, highlighting the swift progress made with Iron Lynx. The team will begin preparation and testing after receiving the cars, leading up to the FIA WEC Prologue scheduled for February 21-22 at Lusail International Circuit, ahead of the Qatar 1812km season opener.
