McLaren's pursuit of the Formula 1 constructors' championship faces unprecedented competition in 2024, with four teams capable of dominating any given race weekend.

Mercedes' recent one-two finish in Las Vegas through George Russell and Lewis Hamilton marked a historic milestone - the first time four different constructors have achieved one-two finishes in a single F1 season.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella acknowledges this competitive landscape as both helpful and challenging. While Mercedes' strong performance in Las Vegas helped contain Ferrari's points gain, the intense competition poses challenges for McLaren's championship aspirations in the remaining races.

"The level of the top teams in Formula 1 in 2024 is unprecedented," Stella notes, emphasizing that while Qatar and Abu Dhabi's layouts should suit McLaren's car design, success isn't guaranteed given the exceptional performance level of their competitors.

Despite Max Verstappen securing the drivers' championship, McLaren remains optimistic. Stella expresses pride in Lando Norris being the only driver to challenge Verstappen consistently since McLaren's car improvements, viewing it as encouraging for the team's future prospects.

McLaren can clinch the constructors' championship at the Qatar Grand Prix by outscoring Ferrari by 21 points while not losing more than 14 points to Red Bull. This objective reflects the team's significant progress and competitive position in one of Formula 1's most closely contested seasons.
