This historic Mazda RX-7 GTO, chassis 001, holds significant achievements including Mazda's 100th win and the 1991 IMSA GTO Championship. Built by Fabcar and powered by a 13J four-rotor engine, the car later secured second place in the GTS class at the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans under Japanese team Artnature.

Veteran Mazda driver Tom Long will pilot the RX-7 during the event, which features four on-track sessions:

  • Practice session (Thursday, January 23)
  • Qualifying and qualifying race (Friday, January 24)
  • 30-minute race before the Rolex 24

The weekend also marks significant Mazda milestones:

  • Launch of the 35th Anniversary Mazda Miata
  • Opening races of the 2025 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship's 20th season

The HSR event showcases invitation-only entries from IMSA's first three decades of racing, celebrating the rich history of sports car racing at Daytona.
