
Kalitta, Tasca and Hartford Dominate Friday Qualifying Sessions at NHRA Arizona Nationals
Top Fuel's Doug Kalitta secured the provisional No. 1 position at Firebird Motorsports Park with an impressive 3.688-second run at 330.09-mph in his SealMaster/Toyota dragster, marking the only 3.60s run of the day at the NHRA Arizona Nationals.

In Top Fuel, Brittany Force claimed second with 3.705 at 331.69, while Shawn Langdon secured third with 3.706 at 331.85. Kalitta's team opted to remove mud flaps for the second session, following NHRA's announcement making them optional for the next four races.
Bob Tasca III led Funny Car qualifying with a remarkable 3.863 at 333.82 in his Motorcraft Ford Mustang. Austin Prock followed in second with 3.883 at 327.44, while Ron Capps secured third with 3.912 at 323.50. Tasca credited his team's ability to adapt to the dramatic track temperature changes, which varied from 122 to 80 degrees.
Local favorite Matt Hartford dominated Pro Stock with a 6.509 at 208.20 in his Total Seal Chevrolet Camaro. Greg Anderson, the defending world champion and Gainesville winner, placed second with 6.512 at 208.91, followed by Cory Reed in third with 6.516 at 208.91.
The NHRA Arizona Nationals qualifying continues Saturday at 11:30am PT at Firebird Motorsports Park.
