Inside IMSA's Lexus RC F GT3 Final Season: A Legacy of Success and the Push for One Last Victory
The Lexus RC F GT3 enters its final IMSA season after eight years of competition, with its team and drivers determined to secure a memorable farewell. Having claimed victory at the 2024 Sebring 12 Hours, the team aims to defend their title at the upcoming race.

Last year's Sebring victory was particularly special, with Ben Barnicoat, Jack Hawksworth, and Kyle Kirkwood securing a dramatic win by just 0.121 seconds after 12 hours of racing. The victory came despite an early drive-through penalty, showcasing the team's strategic excellence and resilience.
The RC F GT3's age has become both a challenge and an advantage. While newer competitors may have higher performance potential, the team's intimate knowledge of the car's characteristics has proven invaluable in endurance racing. This expertise has led to significant victories, including the 2022 Petit Le Mans and the 2023 GTD PRO championship.
For 2025, the team has reorganized its driver lineup, with Hawksworth moving to the No. 12 GTD car alongside Parker Thompson, while Barnicoat leads the No. 14 GTD PRO entry with Kirkwood and Aaron Telitz. Recent testing at Sebring showed promising pace, with Telitz posting the fastest time in the GTD PRO class.
The team's success stems from exceptional driver chemistry and technical expertise. Despite their single-seater racing backgrounds, the drivers have embraced the collaborative nature of sports car racing, contributing to the team's strong performance record.
With a new Toyota/Lexus GT3 car expected in 2026, the team remains focused on adding more victories to the RC F's impressive legacy. The upcoming Sebring 12 Hours presents another opportunity to prove that the veteran car can still compete at the highest level, even against newer machinery.
