IMSA Unveils 2026 WeatherTech Championship Calendar with Road America Format Changes

IMSA announced its 2026 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule, maintaining the same venues while introducing two significant format changes.

Key Changes for 2026:

  • Road America's event becomes a six-hour race, joining the Michelin Endurance Cup
  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway returns to a two-hour, 40-minute sprint format

2026 Schedule Overview:

  • January 24-25: 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona (Season opener)
  • March 21: 74th Sebring 12 Hours
  • April 18: Long Beach (Sprint race)
  • May 3: Laguna Seca
  • May 30: Detroit Grand Prix
  • June 28: Six Hours of Watkins Glen
  • July 12: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (LMP2 class headlining)
  • August 2: Road America (New six-hour format)
  • August 23: VIRginia International Raceway (GT-exclusive sprint)
  • September 20: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Sprint format)
  • October 3: Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (Season finale)

Michelin Pilot Challenge Series 2026:

  • 10-race calendar for GS and TCR classes
  • Runs alongside WeatherTech Championship except for Long Beach and Detroit
  • Features two four-hour endurance races (Daytona and Mid-Ohio)
  • Eight two-hour sprint races
  • Mid-Ohio event scheduled for June 5-7
