In Mercedes' new book 'Life in the Fast Lane,' Wolff discussed Hamilton's sudden decision to join Ferrari and made comments about "cognitive sharpness" and "shelf life" in the sport. These remarks led to speculation about Hamilton's capabilities.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Wolff clarified: "You know that was taken a little bit out of context. What I was referring to was that all of us age, whether it is in a car, on a pitch, or as a manager or entrepreneur."

The Mercedes team principal emphasized Hamilton's current abilities, stating: "We see with Lewis that he's very much there when the car is right. We haven't been able to give him that car to perform his best, and that is a frustration that we share equally in the team."

While acknowledging that Hamilton has evolved since his younger days, Wolff praised the seven-time world champion's experience and race craft as "tremendous."

As the 2024 season enters its final triple-header, beginning with the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Mercedes aims to give Hamilton a strong farewell before his move to Ferrari. Wolff expressed his commitment to ending their partnership on a high note and building momentum for 2025.
